Also, I ran into a problem in that late in the book, a specific character has to do a specific action; the entire plot hinges on it. If I kill off a certain other character whom this pivotal character is very attached to (OK, I'm talking about Trajan Lear and Matt Driver, I don't think that's a spoiler) it makes his action easily understandable from a motivational standpoint. On the other hand, I have had a joke in mind since way back about the time I was writing Book 04 that requires that this other character be alive. So, do I want an emotional rationale that will make a certain pivotal action understandable even though it is out-of-character, or do I want to go for the joke.
Yeah, I'll go for the joke. What else would I do?

The cat should be of some significance in this book. And mice, like in hitchhiker's guide. Fun guaranteed. No? Too much?
when in doubt go for the joke---President Obama would. lol
This luxury lanvin
bag, what is your view?
Christmas is coming! What you want to do, to stay with your family?
Perhaps you are worried and confused? Now you can give her a surprise
this year. I believe that a cheap luxury lanvin handbag has
magical forces. Think of the family will be how happy you are, and if
they receive a gift, this is a charming luxury lanvin bag, took her son
or daughter a little money, they will feel very happy.
